Dragon Boat Race

Originating in the rivers of Southern China as a way to encourage prosperous rains, today Dragon Boat racing has evolved into a fast-paced water sport.More than 5,000 paddlers will churn up the water as thousands of spectators line the banks of Cockle Bay to watch the spectacular 12 metre long Dragon Boats battle it out. Feel your heart race in time with the onboard drummers, and marvel at fierce dragons slicing through the water.

Ancient Egyptian Sky

To celebrate the arrival of Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives at the Powerhouse Museum, step inside Sydney Observatory’s Planetarium and be transported back to the time and land of the Egyptian pharaohs. Explore the mysteries of mummification and the ancient skies! Journey to the royal tombs of Egypt on the Planetarium ceiling and piece together the archaeological and genetic clues of Egyptian mummies in Egypt: Secrets of the Mummies.

Tropfest Australia

ropfest, the world's largest short film festival, is a free, outdoor event, and in 2017, celebrating it's 25th anniversary! Set in Sydney's beautiful Parramatta Park, a summer calendar would be naked without it! The atmosphere is electric and the film screening is well attended by Australian film celebrities and thousands of Sydneysiders. Tropfest is unique in that all films submitted must be under seven minutes in length and include a theme, known as the Tropfest Signature Item or TSI. The TSI for this year is 'Pineapple'.
