Featuring a selection of outstanding student artworks developed for the artmaking component of the HSC examination in Visual Arts 2015, ARTEXPRESS 2016 provides insight into students’ creativity and the issues important to them.

The exhibition encompasses a broad range of approaches and expressive forms, including ceramics, collection of works, documented forms, drawing, graphic design, painting, photomedia, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and fibre, and time-based forms.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we bring you stories of women who break away, stand their ground and stand by each other.

Harmoniously weaving together the art of dance and the science of mechanical engineering, Huang Yi and Kuka is a poetic work that flawlessly intertwines modern dance and visual arts with the realm of robotics.

Huang Yi and Kuka investigates important questions about the role of artificial intelligence in our present and our future lives, exploring if it’s really possible to have meaningful interaction with machines.

This special performance is gracing the stage of the Seymour centre for a short while, and this is definitely a show not to miss!

Despite nearly being killed by a kangaroo and almost lynched and run out of town after his comedy was taken far too seriously, Sami Shah is very happy to be living in Australia. He has fronted his own satirical show on TV in Karachi, worked as a journalist and been a highly regarded newspaper columnist - all dangerous occupations to be involved in - when the combination of seeing the aftermaths of a devastating bomb attack and being the target of death threats convinced him to leave Pakistan. Under the terms of their Australian migration visa, Sami and his wife and young daughter were obliged to settle in a rural area, and so they moved to Northam in WA.

Now Sami is battling a crippling addiction to meat pies, but at least is no longer constantly mistaken for an escaped asylum seeker from the nearby detention centre. He has also been the star of Australian Story, the subject of an article in The New York Times, and has performed countless comedy shows to ever-growing and appreciative audiences.

So why miss this opportunity to witness Shah's brilliance in person and hear in an intimate setting the details of his award winning memoir, 'I, Migrant'

If you’re looking for a new hobby and are in a creative mood, crochet is just the thing for you. Learn how to wield a hook and create something special in this Classie course for absolute beginners.

This course is designed for those who have had little to no experience with a crochet hook. You will learn basic stitches, such as double and treble crochets, chain stitches, slip stitches, and their abbreviations; how to change colours; and even try your hand at a granny square towards the end of the class.

Class sizes are kept small so each participant will have a chance to interact with the host on a one-to-one basis. Participants will be provided with all the equipment on the day, including an aluminium hook, sample patterns, and a ball of yarn.
