Our Generation Film Screening

Join Amnesty International and former ABC foreign correspondent Jeff McMullen as they present ‘Our Generation’, a film awarded the ‘Best Campaign Film’ prize at this year’s London International Documentary Festival. This story has been silenced by the Australian Government for years and is now being driven into the mainstream media by the remote Yolngu people of Northeast Arnhem Land. The films objective is to show Australian Aboriginal people’s struggle for land, culture and freedom. The film explores the ongoing clash of cultures that is threatening to wipe out the oldest continuing culture in the world.

When: Tuesday, September 13, 2011 – 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Randwick Eco-Living and Bike Fair

The Randwick City Council Eco Living Fair is a free community festival reflecting the ‘green’ expectations, aspirations and achievements of Randwick City as a whole. There will be many health food and bike stalls on the day.

When: Sunday, September 18 – 10:30am – 3:00pm

Where: Randwick Community Centre, 27 Munda Street Randwick (turn off Bundock Street into Hendy Avenue then right into Munda Street)

The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra

With only four community concerts per year, the Spring Sounds concert from the Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra is always a popular event on the Woollahra community calender. This event includes pieces featuring Sibelius, Vivaldi, Richard Strauss and Tchaikovsky.

When: Sunday September 18, 2011

Where: St Columba Church, corner of Ocean and Forth Streets, Woollahra.

Cost: Tickets are $25 adult and $15 pensioner / student, available at the door.

Disability Expo

With the announcement of Commonwealth and State Government initiatives, this expo provides families affected by disabilities a unique opportunity to discuss, with professionals, diagnosis, early intervention, standard and alternative treatments, education, post school options and employment services.

When: Saturday, September 16 – Sunday September 17, 2011

Eurofest 2011

Eurofest has been run annually at the Ararat Reserve for 2 decades now and it isn’t hard to see why. After all, where else in Sydney would you find Viking fights, live crocodiles and the chance to shoot air rifles, alongside Latvian folk and flamenco dancers, while you quench your thirst with a tasty food and a European beer?

Twenty nationalities will be represented, with delicious food stalls to match.

This will be an event for the entire family. Even for dads: as part of their annual charity ride, Sunday morning will see the arrival of approximately 200 Harley Motorcycles.  A craft tent, fireworks, amusement rides are available for children.

When: Saturday, September 17 Sunday, September 18, 2011 – 9:00am – 7:30pm

Second Hand Saturday Ultimo

Second Hand Saturday is a community garage sale.

There will be great bargains from over 50 household stall, with bric-a- brac , clothing, homeware. Plus information from Pyrmont Ultimo Landcare, Ultimo Commuity Garden and local community groups.

Rotary will have a sausage sizzle and there will be children’s activities.

When: Saturday, September 17 9:00am – 1:00pm

Taylor Square Spring Fair

Now that spring has arrived, Taylor Square will run 8 weekends of framer’s market produce.
Along side the regular enticing aromatic coffee, organic farm fresh fruit and vegatables and free range meat, this weekend will also host a range of local chefs, cooking demonstrations and free lessons on gardening, worm farming, and composting.
