Hungry+For+Art+2013Hungry for Art Festival

This is the second year that the festival, HUNGRY FOR ART, takes place. You can try new art experiences, exploring varies art spaces and visit artists studios. What’s even more creative this year is that you can enjoy workshops, art trails, open studios, storytelling, pop up exhibitions, performance art, music, food, competitions and more. This events takes you in and out the gallery experience, online and into surprisingly different spaces and side to look and learn. Heaps of activities and satellite events across 14 August – 7 September.

Sydney’s newest open mic comedy night is adding a New York twist to the way they do things. Instead of locking in artists months in advance, comedians must sign-up on the night for a Mug and Kettle show. It means anyone can pop in to test new material, or just get some stage time. All levels of comic, and first-timers, are welcome and audiences never quite know what they’re going to get. It’s comedy in its rawest form. The show starts at 7pm, but comics should turn up by 6pm to sign-up for s spot. Your hosts for the evening are Daniel Muggleton and Sam Kettler

Southland is a visually rich and inspired interpretation of the beautiful landscape of New Zealand. Adrian Brown is an artist and director in Sydney he has been a sought after image creator for over 15 years. His evocative work primarily focuses on the emotive content of moments, people and their beauty within. During this exhibition you can feel the depth of valleys and theempowering emptiness of the land that is the South Island of New Zealand. Adrian Brown.

Possible Worlds

Festivals, Films & Exposrlds Film Festival

This is the 8th annual Possible Worlds Film Festival showcases the best new cinema from Canada and the United States, focusing exclusively on independent films. Join us for 10 days of film premieres, Q&As with visiting actors and parties! The festival will be opened by Sarah Polley’s documentary ”Stories We Tell” and close ten days later with Sydney premiers of Joe Swanberg’s award-winning comedy ”Drinking Buddies” with Olivia Wide, Anna Kendrick, Jake Johnson and Ron Livingston. The audience will enjoy brand new films screening in Sydney for the first time, Q&As with special guests and drinks receptions for lovers of world cinema.

The founder of East is East boutique market in Kensington – where the philosophy is handmade, locally produced and available for $80 or less – has launched a new vintage craft market at the Tap Gallery in Darlinghurst. And it all happens after dark. Liz Raleigh lives under the motto: ‘strictly handmade and under $80’. This means that you can buy everything for $80 and less and is also handmade. This weekly market is from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The ethos is closely based on that of the daytime markets, but the markets will also include vintage products and items will be priced no more than $100.
