Renowned for his work documenting some of the world’s most iconic architecture, Tom Evangelidis’ photos portray an eclectic mix of architecture,  from the Czech Republic to Cuba and Russia.  Evangelidis has been praised for his “technical brilliance, subtle eye and entrancing scale, colour and texture”.

Voyeur

The Aussie Pole Boys showcase their talents, both on and off the pole, displaying their stregnth, agility and the male physique.  This is a night of pole dancing, burlesque and aerial performance, set against a multi-media backdrop which is bound to tantislise your senses.

The Bull, The Moon and The Coronet of Stars

Smash Palace

This art exhibition showcases the reactions of China’s best artists to the shocks of the new century. Some pieces question the solidity of the status quo; others look behind its façade and find monsters lurking. Some find reality so absurd that fantasy or mockery seems the only proper response; others again reach for anchors in the very Olds the Maoists were so determined to erase.

Paddington Markets

Paddington Markets hosts a collection of some of our best local designers and artists.  The markets, which have been running since 1973, have a diverse range of stalls from clothes to jewellery, food, plants, crafts and much more.  It also has a range of products to suit every budget.  What a great way to spend a Saturday!

Sydney Writers Festival

Sydney Writers’ Festival is Australia’s largest celebration of literature and ideas.  There will be about 300 events from Sydney to the Blue Mountains, from Monday 20th – Sunday 26th May.  This year the festival is focussing on ‘The Art of Storytelling’, through different genres, fiction and non-fiction, in literature, digital media, business, music and politics.  For information on the whole program go to www.swf.org.au

Forget Me Not

This play is based around the 3000 British children who were told they were orphans and transported to Australia between 1945- 1968, with the promise of pleantiful food and sunshine.  The reality they faced was often neglect and abuse.  In this play Gerry, one of those orphans, meets his mother for the first time in 60 years.

Art After Hours – Drawing Workshop

Try your hand at portrait drawing at the free ‘drop in and draw’ workshops located in the Grand Courts of the Art Gallery of NSW.  You can sketch whilst being surrounded by great examples of portraiture.  You can also enjoy the Archibald exhibition, a lecture and a film screening as part of the Art After Hours program.
