Other Worlds Zine Fair
In an age where there are so many media platforms (even reading this community billboard is an example), most information and entertainment is gathered online. However, there will always be a market and fans for every source that is out there, though the numbers may slip or boost according to fashion.
A certain creation that definitely has its dedicated followers is zines, the self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images, that are only ever created in small quantities to be shared within fans of the work produced.
The Other Worlds zine fair, which began in 2014, is coming back again this year, aiming to create an alternative space for the exchange of art and ideas.
This year the program will expand across three days to include heaps of zines, exhibitions, talks, workshops, and more.
If you're a fan of the world of zines I'm sure you already know about this event coming to town, but if youre not so "in the know", then this will be where to discover what it's all about.
When: Starting Saturday, May 23rd at 11:00am - 4:00pm.

That all changes on the last weekend of this month as the GABS festival comes to town. The great Australasian beer spectacular is a beer festival with a difference, celebrating the diversity of craft beer and the creativity of the breweries with 120 of the best craft breweries from Australia, New Zealand and the world brewing brand new beers specifically for the event.
The festival was started in 2012 by Steve Jeffares and Guy Greenstone, owners of the multi-award winning Local Taphouse pubs in Melbourne and Sydney, and offers a large variety of exclusive new-release beers, brewery stands, fantastic local restaurants, educational seminars, games and live entertainment.
It might be called a beer festival, but there will plenty more on offer if you want to go along for a meal packed with jolly atmosphere and live entertainment.
It is partnered with one of our sponsors here at Eastside, Coopers, who will also be giving away special festival glasses that are the exact glass you need at a beer festival.
