The Australian Museum of Magical Arts is set within the secret walls and corridors of The Magicians Cabaret Theatre. Through personal objects, photos and films, as well as personal mementos, secret plans, books and artefacts, you will learn about a magician’s mind and the fascinating role magic has played in cultures.
This museum may be small but it is packed with information and inspiration. By discovering the role magic has played in movies, in war, even in history, you will experience not just wonder but the beauty of imagination.

The Beehive: A free Sydney Festival Event
Artist Zanny Begg’s video art installation addresses one of Sydney’s enduring murder mysteries.
On 4 July 1975, the crusading journalist, heiress and anti-development campaigner Juanita Nielsen went to a meeting at a Kings Cross underworld club. She was never seen again.
In this innovative fiction and documentary video installation, artist Zanny Begg and creative producer Philippa Bateman weave the tropes of true crime and cold case stories with themes of gentrification, corruption and non-conformity.
The Beehive is assembled by randomising software. Each screening has a unique duration of up to 33 minutes. This event is part of the Sydney Festival.
Where: UNSW Galleries, Corner of Oxford Street and Greens Road, Paddington
When: Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 5pm; Saturday 5 January to Saturday 23 February
