52 Suburbs

Get to know your neighboring burbs’ by checking out the exhibition by photographer Louise Hawson at the Museum of Sydney this month. After becoming a stranger in her own city, Hawson, set herself a mission – to explore and photograph one new Sydney suburb a week for a year. The exhibition reveals Sydney beyond the clichés of its harbour and beaches and captures the vibrancy, multiculturalism and community of Sydney’s suburbs in a refreshingly unconventional way.

While You there check out the winning pieces from the “Beauty in the Burbs'” comp. These guys are your fellow suburban folk who produced works inspired by Hawson’s ideas. They will be featured in the same exhibition.

When: Monday, August 29 and Sunday, October 9, 9.30am – 05.00pm
