Inspirational Conversations – Stacey Demarco

  ‘Maintaining your Passion’ is the first part of the new series of Inspirational Conversations for 2013.  Each month travel writer and presenter Walter Mason will interview a local author about what drives them, what fuels their passion and what kindles their creativity.

This week Walter talks to Stacey Demarco about maintaining your passion.  Stacey is a Witch, metaphysicist and popular writer who believes ancient techniques can solve modern problems.  Stacey will talk about the power of thought to keep us inspired and help make our dreams a reality.

Rust and Bone

One pure thought loops through my fritzing, blown-apart brain: so this is fatherhood.’

A crippled boxer fights on to atone for past sins. A young killer whale trainer comes face to face with death. And a dog fighter discovers fatherhood in the most unexpected of places.

Three men, three interwoven stories. Each has his will tested beyond belief in this potent exploration of masculinity at its most fragile and brutal.

Adapted by award-winning playwright Caleb Lewis, from the short stories by Canadian writer Craig Davidson, Rust and Bone brings the talents of exciting Adelaide director Corey McMahon to Sydney.

This play is only running until February 2nd.

Amazonia Peru: Wild Adventure

This is a free photographic exhibition showcasing the natural wonders of the largest tropical forest on the planet – The Amazon.

Sea Flavour Festival

Sea Flavour is a festival celebrating the world of the oceans and all they have to offer.

Bare Island at La Perouse will host the Festival.  There will be a variety of activities including a cooking challenge featuring star chefs, live music and kids activities, plus information about diving and other watersports.

There will also be trial dives and  historical dives of the Bare Island Fort and a fairground with exhibitors of diving to seafood restaurants and everything in between.    “Sea Flavour” is a taste of everything the sea has to offer.

History Book Club 

Join lovers of history in this discussion group which meets on the first Tuesday of each month.

Poetry Slam – Open mic night

This is Sydney’s premier regular open mic. poetry / spoken word event.   It features local poets and voices, a high energy poetry slam and featured and established poets who perform along side them.

This month, local poets and open mic contestants will be joined by Skye Longeragan and Jessica Santosa.  Both these poets are award-winning spoken word performers with different styles and content.

If you want to join the slam just bring a poem and register your name from 7pm, to be ready for a 8pm start.  Or if you’d prefer,  just sit back and listen to the words and rhythms from a variety of spoken word artists.
