Newtown Festival 2014
Newtown Festival is back for 2014, and this year it’s in honour of a very special occasion – Newtown Independence Day!
We’ve all seen it coming for years, and now it’s official. The Festival has cheekily declared Newtown’s independence. Now, the iconic suburb is soon to become Australia’s newest micronation: the Republic of Newtown.
One of Sydney’s largest community events, Newtown Festival encapsulates the spirit of Newtown’s vibrant creative, conscientious, and inclusive community.
Each year over 80,000 people come together to experience its smorgasbord of music, the arts and grassroots creativity.
Entertainment on the Festival’s five stages will showcase a wide variety of Sydney’s best live music and entertainment

Walsh Bay Arts Table 2014
The al fresco degustation dinner, which will feature food from some of Sydney’s best restaurants and located on the water’s edge with a stunning Sydney harbor backdrop, is ideal for lovers of food and the arts. Proceeds from the dinner will be donated towards the development of arts and cultural activities in regional NSW.
The five-course degustation dinner with matched wines will be served on the historic Pier 2 Wharf with a breathtaking view of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, and will attract up to 400 diners seated at one long table.
Furthermore, guests of the Walsh Bay Arts Table will be entertained by South Coast born-and-bred singer-songwriter Heath Cullen.

Annette Messager: Motion / Emotion
Annette Messager is an internationally renowned French artist whose diverse practice encompasses drawing, artist’s books, photography, sculpture and installation.
Featuring works from the early 1970s to the present, this represents the artist’s first retrospective exhibition in Australia and includes her large kinetic installations with mechanical and inflatable elements.
At once playful and disturbing, Messager’s works employ everyday materials and objects in their realisation, from woollen gloves and items of clothing, to black netting, soft toys and badges.

PACT 50 Years On The Edge
PACT centre for emerging artists is celebrating 50 years of supporting, developing and presenting emerging artists.
Join us for a one-off unique event that will include a presentation from the Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore, performances from PACT artists, installations of archival footage and the launch of PACT’s 2015 Program.
As PACT celebrates the past, we also look towards the future. Alongside a festival performance event, PACT will be raising money to fund the next generation of emerging artists and an exciting new program that will be launched on the night.

Sewing and Design at Juanita Nielsen Community Centre
Take your sewing and design skills to the next level!
Having covered basic techniques with sewing machines we are focusing more specific sewing techniques to fashion a garment with style.
By the end of this course students will have gained greater skills in various sewing and machine techniques and have a better understanding of appropriate methods of finishing garments.

Antenna Documentary Film Festival is back for its fourth year featuring the very best documentaries from Australia and around the world, together with cash prize awards, international guests, industry talks, retrospective screenings and other special events.
