Del Kathryn Barton

Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery is delighted to present new works by Del Kathryn Barton in ‘i wanted to build a bed for all the tired beds’, following her major solo exhibition ‘The Highway is a Disco’ at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.

Barton’s detailed and vibrant paintings explore the symbolic language of femininity, interweaving references to traditional folklore and the cosmos.

Barton’s practice is grounded in self-referentiality, drawing from a euphoric and emotional inner world.

This exhibition coincides with Kaylene Whiskey’s exhibition Wonder Women.

Feast of Strangers 2019

Join the Sydney Global Shapers Community on the first evening of the 2019 Spark Festival to celebrate diversity, innovation and community.

The Feast of Strangers is based on an original idea by Oxford scholar Theodore Zeldin, pairing two strangers together over dinner for sincere, rewarding exchanges that probe beyond small talk.

Every pair is given a ‘Menu of Conversation’ but instead of dish descriptions, each heading contains discussion topics.

The 2019 edition of the Feast follows on the success of our 2017 and 2018 events, while incorporating a unique, ‘Spark’-y twist; it begins with a pitch round by some of Australia’s most promising migrapreneurs.

The pitches are meant to inspire and set the scene for the Feast component, which will cover topics about innovation and social impact alongside the more traditional questions.

Your ticket proceeds will benefit two highly impactful organisations.

Half of ticket sales will go towards a scholarship fund for migrant and refugee start-up founders participating in Catalysr, an award-winning Sydney-based pre-accelerator program. The rest will cover a beautiful dinner catered by the Pure Collective, a hospitality social enterprise which donates all its profits to charities.

Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase during the evening.

See you there!
