From the 13th to the 28th of February right here in Paddington, close to the Eastside Radio station there will be a H20 water bar. Open to the public this bar will let you find out EVERYTHING there is to know about your water supply and lots of other interesting events based around one of the greatest natures of the world, water.

There will be a range of different events and discussions throughout the two weeks of the H20 water bar's program. This Saturday the bar will host The Language of Water, an evening of poetry and conversation.

This is an Art & About project in collaboration with POEMS NB who are a small organisation that curates events that encourage cross-pollination between poetry and other art forms, and further collaborative association between poets, intellectuals, musicians and artists.
It will be an evening where distinguished poets and scholars share their poems, stories and thoughts on water, art and ecology.

There will also be an open discussion between speakers and audience followed by a film screening of Water on the Table, plus it is your chance to sample a variety of water sourced from diverse regions of Australia to see which one you prefer the best.

It is always enjoyable and insightful to learn of other cultural traditions, one that might not be as widely known as others is the ancient tradition of the use of Hanji.

Hanji literally means “the paper of Korea”. The main material is the fibrous skin of the mulberry tree. Hanji also know as K- paper is not just simply paper, it is used in a variety of ways from making dresses, dakpaper dolls, ornaments, jewellery and much more.

Next Monday the K-paper (hanji) culture festival will begin and will run on for two weeks. The festival will offer various Hanji programs including a fashion show, craft workshops, a paper market and an exhibition. There will be a range of different workshops where you will have a unique experience to create your own Hanji artworks.
This Hanji festival will allow you to experience the traditional Korean paper in a whole new different way.

With the world thankfully getting more educated about conscious living, there are several different initiatives and groups out there to help inform you. If you want to learn of how the world is changing and what is being effected head along to MAKERS: Game Changers.

If you are curious about the open source movement, emerging technoligies and sustainability then this event is the one for you. Join Sydney based social entrepreneur Mel Fuller, co-founder of Makers Place Inc. and Ability Mate as she showcases a range of social movements and game changing technologies that are disrupting industries and businesses rapidly.

Throughout the presentation you will learn that to make a positive change in society not only requires you to think, dream and speak, but also to tinker, test and create.

If you are wondering what gig to head along to, next week there will be a night full of soul music from the heart. Bringing some of the classics live to the stage will be the Soul Roots Revival Band.

Internationally acclaimed saxophonist Jason Bruer who has worked alongside the likes of BBKing Eric Clapton and many more, brings together a hand picked eight piece band. The Soul Roots Revival Band who won the crowd over at the Manly Jazz Festival will be paying homage to the great soul and roots artists of our time, such as, Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and many more legendary artists.

The band who create an exciting sound consists of Michael Duchesne on vocals, Lana Rita Sayah on vocals, Chris Mawer on bass & vocals, Adam Moses on guitar & vocals, Jason Bruer on sax, Ray Cassar on trumpet and Dave Plenty playing the drums. To hear some of your favourite soul classics with a fresh twist get on down to this roots of soul weeknight performance.

With the start of a new year upon us some of you may have decided to make some foodie resolutions. If you are always looking for new ways to eat healthier but don't want to give into them "fad" diets, a class that is full of wholesome goodness is the Delicious, Raw & Vegan event.

If you want to start living a cleaner diet then pop along as you will learn how to whip up super quick delicious breakfast treats to power your day, along with handy snacks that are not your usual junk treats.
You will also learn how to create vegan dishes filled with raw goodness in your own kitchen and where to find the tastiest ingredients that are also high in nutritional value.

Something we thrive for here at Eastside Radio is equality and any event that is trying to break down the barriers of inequality we love to share with you.
An event that brings an online platform of discussion to life is Women in The Arts.

Women in the Arts is an ongoing dialogue addressing endemic issues of gender inequality and exclusionary practices in the arts landscape. What started off as an online jobs board Women in the Arts has demonstrated how women working in the arts benefit from collaboration and solution-based discussion.

This particular event will be an opportunity to discuss the purpose of their online platform and the importance of professional networking, mentorships, collaboration and support, followed by discussion, debate and sharing. If you are interested in making the arts more fearless, inclusive and diverse then this is where you will find out all you need to know, in an environment with like minded people.

Next weekend will see the return of the award-winning Tomato Festival Sydney. With plans of being bigger, tastier and hotter this year, not just because they have gone and introduced a chilli theme, but because it’s part of the Royal Botanic Garden’s 200th Birthday.

The two-day Tomato Festival Sydney celebrates the humble tomato. From talks, workshops, cooking demonstrations, entertainment and more.
An event for you to show your love for the big juicy tomatoes of the world. From salads to sauces, pizza to pastas, the fabulous tomato has become a key ingredient in all of our lives.

There will be lots to see and do for the whole family, such as a one-hour free guided walk ‘From our Garden to the Table’ highlighting many of the Garden’s edible plants, a chilli sauce competition, the best in show home grown tomatoes competition and didgeridoo lessons plus lots more.

With Mardi Gras season happening there is lots of fun and exciting events taking place over the next few months. If you love Mardi Gras but hate the crowds then an event that has it all is the Mardi Gras Fair Day.

Everyone comes to Fair Day to have fun, indulge in great food, be entertained by some of the Mardi Gras Festival highlights and soak up the atmosphere.
There will be the team Sydney sports village, lots of tempting delights in the International food fair and a dedicated children’s entertainment area.
For those of you who have a four legged furry family member or you just love all things pets there will also be a pet pageant held in a respectful way without peer.

Last year there was more than 80 community organisations and more than 80 other commercial stalls and this year plans are to be even bigger and better. Having over 80,000 people in one spot for one fun-filled day is truly a unique opportunity
