Recently returned from yet another hugely successful European tour and a string of east coast Australian shows, Mick Hart will be back in Sydney.

Celebrating his 8th and current studio album Under a Vacant Sky, Mick will play this gig in full rockin duo mode with good buddy Simon Gibson on drums. ARIA-nominated back in 2002, Mick has supported Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Bob Dylan, Sting, Van Morrison, Paul Kelly and John Butler Trio. His shows feature a brilliant mix of indie folk rock from mellow acoustic to blistering dirty blues rock and something not to be missed!

More than 300 young people from across the country, many newly arrived to Australia, have taken part in an innovative national art project called the Harmony Art Collective. It has seen them come together to create a collection of large scale murals expressing their unique stories, self-identity and cultural heritage.

The initiative, a collaboration between SBS, the Department of Social Services and aMBUSH Gallery, saw four leading Australian street artists deliver a series of eight workshops across Australia over 12 months. The project culminates with a public exhibition of the works in Sydney, to coincide with Harmony Day..

The line-up features Sancha Prowse (vocals, mandolin), Marcus Holden (fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals) Garry Steel (accordion) and Stan Valacos (double bass, guitar).

From Leonard Cohen to Alison Krauss with a hint of Chick Corea, you’ll be enthralled by this swinging quartet!

How do we trace ourselves onto the city and allow the city to trace itself onto us? From how we move, think and see to how we play, discover and dream, how can the city inspire us to be more fully ourselves?

This exhibition brings to life the city’s rich past by re-imagining moments in time. Contrasting archival photographs and recorded stories with contemporary interpretations, the exhibition highlights how the past can inform the present and stir new ways of being. It shows that history is not only what’s documented and preserved, it is also what is lived by us each day.

El Orqueston is a 12-piece Afro-Cuban powerhouse playing salsa, timba and changüi.

Led by Sydney bassist Tina Harris, this mighty charanga style ensemble honours the great Cuban orchestras that feature the heavenly and punchy sound of three trombones, violin and tres cubano, on a bed of Latin percussion, bass and keyboards.

Playing a Cuban repertoire of tunes by Los Van Van, Elito Reve y Su Charangon, Havana De Primera, Timbalive, Pupy, Sur Caribe and Dan Den, plus kickass original compositions, El Orqueston is sheer joy and energy from beginning to end.
