Glebe Music Festival

The Glebe Music Festival emerged from the many informal musical soirées that have been held at the historical Margaretta Cottage since the late 1960s. In recent years the Festival has flouished into a month long affair encorporating the diverse musical interest of local and international musicians.

The underlying philosophy of the Glebe Music Festival is to bring together musicians at different stages of their careers in the intimate atmosphere of the chosen venues including Margaretta Cottage and Glee Books.

The Festival hosts categories including: world music, opera, choirs, soloists (instrumental or vocal), pianists, jazz, cabaret and many more.

Where: Margaretta Cottage, 6 Leichhardt Street, Glebe Point (and other various locations see ‘More Info’)

Cost: Approx $20 for most events

Lebanon Carnival

The Lebanon Carnival is a festival that showcases the cultural history and modern day influences of Lebanese performance and gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the folklore, arts, crafts and music of Lebanese Australians.

Performances include Dabke and bellydancing. Performers will wear traditional costumes and veils.

Entertainment on the day will be performed by professional performers as well as music and singing performances from schools and community groups.

When: Sunday 6 November, 11:00am-5:00pm

Where: Harbourside Amphitheatre in Darling Harbour (near the Harbourside Shopping Centre)

Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands is a youth music event for under 18’s.

There will be six local and upcoming bands performing to fight for the prizes and the spot to play at summer’s BLITZ where it attracts a fantastic crowd.

The line-up includes: Sweet Apes; April Falls; Charsonnez; Insane Element; Milwalkee; and Rose From Ruins! This is a drug and alcohol free event.

When: Saturday 5 November, 7:00pm

Where: Bondi Pavillion

Double Bay European Festival

Double Bay’s inaugral European Festival is on this Sunday.

The streets of Double Bay and Guilfoyle Park will be teeming with roaming performers, petting farms, street stalls and luxury European cars displays.

In Guilfoyle Park:
Performances from local schools, Zumba Exhibition, A special appearance by Sparkles the Fairy and William the Wizard from Magical Tales, Nathan Allgood (Jazz) In Knox St,  Elegant boutiques and pop-up stalls selling products from all over Europe, In Cross St, Adventure rides for the kids In Transvaal Ave, Luxury European Cars along side some vintage classics

APRA Tropscore


Part of Tropfest

A fantastic opportunity has just surfaced for anyone who is musically inclined and looking to make a big impact in film or audio design industries.

APRA, in conjunction with Tropfest, has created Tropscore. Topscore encourages aspiring audio artists to produce a piece of music for a short film in their competition, where music and film collide.

There will be a star studded panel of judges who will choose the winning composition, plus the winning artist or band will receive $5,000 cash and get the chance to perform their musical composition live on stage at  Tropfest.

When: Entries close on Thursday 12 January 12 2012, 6pm | TROPFEST – Sunday 19 February 2012
