Dangerous Ideas – Drive Monday!

large-Tariq Ali and Vanessa Redgrave protesting the war in Vietnammiriam lyons

We have two exceptional guests from the fabulous Festival of Dangerous Ideas on the program next Monday – Tariq Ali – a leading figure of the international left since the 60s – is in town to discuss The Twilight of Democracy: What’s the point of elections if the result is always a victory for the extreme centre? He has been writing for the Guardian since the 70s. His books include The Duel: Pakistan on the Flightpath of American Power, and The Obama Syndrome. And he couldn’t be in Australia at a better time for this particular debate!

He’ll be followed by Miriam Lyons, whose big question concerns the mining boom Australia has been coasting on for the past decade – if it’s over, when will it hurt?

This exciting discourse will be peppered with musical interludes, breaking environment news and a swag of lovely fun stuff from Green Velvet PLUS the latest film review from our resident Neuro-Romantic cineaste, Riley Lavelle Long.
