Jazz singing Dee Alexander

Back in her hometown of Chicago, she is celebrated as one of the more incredible jazz singers of her time. Since the release of her first album Wild is the Wind, Dee has enjoyed many successes in her career, including appearances at some of Europe and America’s most prestigious jazz festivals.

Dee cites famous African-American jazz singers Sarah Vaughn and Dinah Washington as inspirations for her work. Her voice is likened to that of Vaughn, whose velvety lush timbre was famous in the Jazz world.

Dee’s new album Songs My Mother Loves will be released to coincide with the Women’s International Jazz Festival in Sydney. Along with her is Miguel De La Cerna on piano, Brett Hirst on bass and  Tim Firth on drums.
