Disability Day Art Exhibit ft. Shai!

This year, for the 4th year in a row, Willoughby City Council is launching an art competition! Celebrating International Day of People with Disability, this year’s theme is “Connect, Collaborate, Celebrate”, and Eastside’s very own Breaking Wave’s presenter Shai De Vletter Sont will be on display!

Breaking Waves is about smashing stereotypes and stigma surrounding people living with disabilities. They challenge the ordinary and explore how we can achieve the maximum excitement in life.

The exhibition spotlights people with disabilities creative expertise displaying their talents to the world, and here we can see Shai do just that. The artistic talent shining in both of his intricate hand-painted drawings says so much. Painting is a way we express ourselves to the world, and in both paintings, it’s noticeable a lot of depth and emotion has been put into them. The colours in both of these paintings show a great amount of warmth, making us viewers drawn to such vehemence.

You can see Shai’s paintings along with other disabled artists’ artworks at Dougherty Community Centre until the 15th.
