Drink Coffee Do Good

On Friday the 7th of June the annual initiative CafeSmart from StreetSmart take place. The goal of this charity is to raise money for the homeless from your daily caffeine hit.

This is the third year that StreetSmart have organized this successful initiative. CafeSmart is rallying together roasters, cafes and coffee drinkers around the country to extend a helping cup to the homeless. One dollar of every sold coffee will be donated by participating cafes to fund local projects. The simple message is “Drink Coffee Do Good”.

232 cafes across Australia raised $74,477 in 2012 up from $47,477 in 2011. To participate this great initiative in your local area visit www.streetsmartaustralia.org and get down to your nearest coffee shop to buy yourself and your friends some coffee.  To help the homeless more, StreetSmart would appreciate it if you can donate an extra $1 at the counter.

StreetSmart’s CEO, Adam Robinson, explains how grabbing your morning pick-me-up and helping the homeless is easy for all of us: “Homelessness is an issue which too often falls under the radar or worse, is stuck in the too-hard basket.  When something like CafeSmart comes around it’s a reminder that it’s the small gestures that make a difference. Last year the response was amazing, I’m immensely proud of the people who brought about that achievement and enabled us to fund local grassroots projects. “It’s so easy to take part in CafeSmart and while you’re at it, why not bring friends or colleagues along to be part of the solution as well? You’re going to help someone for whom a morning coffee is a rare occurrence and aid them in ways they’ll never forget. So on the 7th participating cafe and enjoy your favourite brew.”
