Electric Empire – Electric Empire
Eastside Radio’s album of the week is Electric Empire’s deluxe version of their self-titled album.
Originally a self-funded, self-penned and self-released album back in 2010, Red Disc Records recently snapped up the group and re-released the LP with bonus tracks and remixes.
Electric Empire are a group that is firmly part of the soul revival currently going down in Melbourne with their sounds reminiscent of Al Green, Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield.
Funky horns, cheeky hand claps, and danceable piano chords are some of the catchy sounds to expect when listening to Electric Empire. Indeed the album is feel good music at its best. Adopting a fresh outlook on soul funk music, Electric Empire embody everything that is fun, cool and hip about the Australian soul scene.
The rise of their success was personified with a performance at the legendary Glastonbury festival in the UK last year, and comparisons to fellow Aussie funksters The Bamboos and Ray Mann Three have been made.
In short, if you love your throwback soul sounds and have been known to shake your hips at parties, you’re going to love this album!
