Escape From Pompeii: The Untold Roman Rescue

 

Many of you would know about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and the widespread disaster the volcano caused. Lesser known is the attempt by the Roman naval fleet mounted a rescue mission, under  Admiral Pliny the Elder. Will Mathers is the curator of an exhibition entitled Escape From Pompeii: The Untold Roman Rescue, just opened at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
