Fiveways WinterFest brings you Warren Fahey

If you are in the mood for an injection of local history, stories and music this weekend, Fiveways Royal Hotel will be hosting cultural historian Warren Fahey this coming Saturday at 10.30am.

A Paddington local, Warren is a cultural historian, broadcaster and performer, as well as the curator of the Australian Folklore Unit. His mini concerts celebrate Australian history, and he will be talking about growing up in Paddington and the many enterprises he undertook here, and adventures he had along the way. You can also count on him singing a few songs.

Warren established his businesses, Folkways Music and Larrikin Records, on Oxford street in the early seventies, so he was a key figure at the time when Australian music was expanding to discover all the things it could be. Larrikin Records went on to be the flagship of Australian independent recording, giving local artists an unprecedented chance to get their music out into the world.

Here he will be joining WinterFest in his role as a great storyteller with an unmatched knowledge of the area, and the culture that has flourished in Paddington over the years.
