FLAP! – A Great Day For The Race

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is A Great Day For The Race by FLAP!

A Great Day For The Race is the sophomore album from exuberant Melbourne five piece band FLAP!, and it sees the quintet continue where they left off with their vivacious, cheeky and fun sound.

FLAP!s sound has a definite vintage feel to it as they cohesively blend jazz, gypsy, swing, funk and big brass band kicks to create a quirky and niche vibe. Yet where A Great Day For The Race truly stands out from other releases is in its light-hearted and funny approach.

The lyrics are catchy, odd and at times down right bizarre, however this all adds to the overall unique flavour of the album. Expect to hear tales of zombies at the end of the earth, rocks in space and perhaps most unusual and fantastical of all… a giant rooster. Yet it is this blasé gobbledegook attitude which makes A Great Day For The Race so infectious, leaving your mind wandering, toes tapping and face beaming.

A Great Day For The Race is a release distributed by Heapsaflash. For more information go to flap.net.au
