Forever French with Tricia Evy + playlist 10/10/2012
French talented jazz singer, Tricia Evy, was in the studio tonight with Emmanuelle. Glamourous and refreshing, she sung a cappella ‘Petite Fleur’ by Sydney Bechet… and we had goosebumps in the studio!
Tricia has performed in Manly Jazz Festival and Jazz a Vienne Sydney Festival in the last two weeks… and she’s got more concerts planned in the best Sydney music venues.
Born in a Parisian suburb, she grew up in Guadeloupe in the French West Indies. Her influences? zouk with Patrick Saint Eloi, traditional French song with George Brassens and much more. Back in France in her early twenties she decided to sing jazz and created a trio in 2007 with two talented musicians : Xavier Richardeau (saxophone) and Jean-Philippe Bordier (guitare). Their first album entitled ‘Beginning’ was released in 2010 and was inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Nat king Cole, and Mel Tormé. Her jazz music is always influenced by her Caraibbean origins. She played in very famous French venues such as Duc des Lombards, Sunset, Baiser Salé, Enghien Jazz Festival, Marciac Jazz Festival, Festival Voix d’ici Voix d’ailleurs in Guadeloupe, Festival Orleans Jazz, Jazz en Ré, Festival Biguine Jazz in Martinique, Festival Influences Caraïbes as well as in international festivals such as Doha Jazz Festival in Qatar… Her second album will be released by the end of 2012.
To find more about her next concerts and the special and secret New Orleans gig on Sunday somewhere in Sydney, contact her through her Facebook page or MySpace page.
Tonight, we played tracks from Tricia’s first and second albums… and some other very talented musicians.
