Germany and France Discovering Sydney – Part 1

Hey everyone!

We are Sophia, 19 years old from Germany and Roxane, 21 years old from France.

Just a couple of days ago, we arrived in Sydney with the same aim: doing an internship at Eastside Radio.

So, now you guys are probably wondering “Why are they doing an internship at a radio station at the other side of the world?”. Well, the thing is that we both think about doing something with journalism and public relations later on as our profession. Due to the fact that we’ve always been interested in how a radio station works, we thought “Why don’t we try to connect the discovery of our probable profession with a completely new culture?” That’s why we’re here now, in Sydney.

To make you become a part of our experiences, we would like to share our first impressions of this city with you.

When the Australia plans was fixed, everybody told us that Australia was a wonderful country, and that Sydney was amazing and really beautiful. So we were very excited and looking forward to come here, also because we knew that it was going to be summer here. We were dreaming about the sun, the beaches and the sea. But actually, when we came here, it was the complete opposite. It was just cold and windy and it was raining a lot. So our first days here were quite exhausting because we were completely overwhelmed with this new situation. Sydney is just such a vibrant and lively city and we didn’t have any orientation at first. But after two days, we started getting along with the new surroundings.

Another thing which we directly noticed is that Sydney is a very multicultural city. Everywhere you look, you see people from different origins, from Asia, Brazil and a lot more.

We are still very excited to continue discovering the city and its daily life, the inhabitants and their culture and make it a part of ours.

So we hope that you like our comments about Sydney and that you’ll accompany us during this huge adventure. You’re going to hear from us soon!

See you 🙂
