Going Bjork
Australia’s ARIA Award-winning a cappella quartet The Idea of North joins forces with Sydney Chamber Choir to explore the music of Icelandic pop princess, Bjørk. Drawing upon the rich vein of folk and a cappella singing, they perform a series of specially commissioned arrangements of the music of Bjørk as well as music from other Icelandic artists.
The program also explores music from Scandinavian composers, both popular and classical (including The Real Group, Knut Nystedt, Jan Sandström and ABBA) in a truly collaborative venture. It will also feature the premiere of a new work by Naomi Crellin plus a new arrangement by Dan Walker of the ethereal sound-world of Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros. Genre-crossing and mind-expanding: leave your preconceptions behind and join us on an epic musical adventure.
Featuring the music of Bjørk, as well as music from Iceland, Scandinavia and a new work by Dan Walker.
