HalfWorld, by Matriark Art Theatre
Attention lovers of theatre – in less than two weeks time we will all have the chance to catch the work-in-progress showing of HALFWORLD.
HalfWorld is the brainchild and current project of new visual/physical company Matriark Art Theatre – a collective of young artists, performers, writers, and makers drawing on a range of artistic styles to create visual and communal performance experiences. It is an immersive journey into the imagination for children and kiddults alike.
Picture this: A huge blanket fort, a hairy Oph, and a boy with a huge imagination.
This show is a celebration of child logic and the restorative power of the imagination.
Mr Boy has lost his twin brother. Pursued by “Them”, he sets off on a quest to find him with the aid of new friends and in the face of inescapable opposition. The audience walks into a humongous blanket fort where Mr Boyʼs imagination has free reign: mythical creatures come to life, legendary figures duel using blankets as this makeshift fort transforms into an interplanetary landscape, dotted with stars. All the while an unknown terror haunts the walls outside the safety of the blankets.
What: HalfWorld – an immersive theatre work for children.
Where: 107 Projects (107 Redfern Street), Redfern.
When: Friday 16 Aug to Sunday 18 Aug.
7.00pm each night, plus 2.00pm matinees Sat & Sun.
