Henry 4 Storms the Sydney Opera House Drama Theatre
Renowned Shakespeare actor and director John Bell is set to fulfil the ambition of a lifetime when he takes up the role of Falstaff in the Bell Shakespeare company’s upcoming production of Henry 4.
The play, which combines Shakespeare’s Henry IV Parts One and Two, is a modern retelling of the classic story of power, rebellion and family ties.
Bell will direct the production in addition to his starring role as Falstaff, the “Lord of misrule, the life of the party, the corruptor of youth,” who Bell says “charms us with his lively wit, his mighty intelligence and healthy scepticism.”
This production offers a fresh perspective on Shakespeare’s most famous political drama; executives replace kings and union bosses step in for the rebel leaders in a gritty modern-day setting inspired by the 2011 London riots.
Don’t miss thirteen of Australia’s finest actors bringing this story to life and into the 21st century, throughout April and May at the Opera House Drama Theatre.
