How would you like up to $10K for your community project? Matching Grants are back!

The City of Sydney’s Matching Grants program is back!

Have you got a great idea to improve or inspire your local neighbourhood and a group of eager participants ready to make it happen? Then you might have what it takes to receive a Matching Grant.

Matching Grants support neighbourhood groups in the City of Sydney to purchase materials or supplies to help create projects that bring the community together.

Matching Grants are available all year round and ‘match’ contributions made by the community with up to $10,000 cash or offer in-kind support like venue hire of City owned buildings.

Matching Grants don’t just match cash; they also match volunteer time or ‘community contribution’, such as time each group contributes to the project. It can include volunteer time such as labour put towards the project, set-up and pack-down, and even meeting time to identify, plan and implement projects.

Would your local area benefit from a community barbecue, a local bike-fixing workshop, a creative writing group for seniors? What about a Latin Film Festival, cooking clubs or a neighbourhood clean up group?

Think you can make a mean veggie garden for the locals out of that patch of unloved lawn? What about organising a neighbourhood tree-planting day? Could you turn your empty roof space in a rooftop community garden?

These are just some of the great ideas that have already been assisted by The City of Sydney’s Matching Grants program, designed to assist community-minded folk to get out there and make their ideas a reality.

Head to the Matching Grants website HERE and propose your idea!
