Jane Raffan and artist Tim Johnson talk about artistic mentorship and merit in the 2014 Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize

The Redlands Art Prize aims to facilitate dialogue and mentoring between generations of artists. Unique amongst Australian art prizes, up to 20 selected contemporary visual artists from Australia and New Zealand put forward a single work for the Prize, and then each of those established artists, in turn, is required to invite an emerging contemporary artist to present work. One artist from each category is awarded a prize.

Tim Johnson is guest curator of the 2014 Prize. Jane and Tim chat about his practice, the curatorial process and select works from the field of 40.
