Japanese jazz, on the rocks

Japan’s Soil & Pimp Sessions bring their, to use the Festival’s own words, “blazing death jazz sounds” into a remarkable night’s line-up of music events at the Town Hall’s Club Paradisio. If hard-core experimental jazz is your thing (and I know we have plenty of friends here who fit that description), if you like your jazz fizzing and popping with all the jagged edges still intact, you won’t want to miss this.

The Sessions complete just one corner of the brim-full venue that the Town Hall has transformed into for the Festival, so be sure to devote enough time to appreciate it all. Here is the entire program for the evening:

Terrace DJ: Sinkane 5:30pm-8:30pm

Main House Doors: 8pm

DJ Sets from: Blair Stafford 8pm-8:45pm

Support: Cola and Jimmu (Nicole Willis and Jimi Tenor) 8:45pm-9:45pm

Soil & “Pimp” Sessions 10:15pm-11:30pm

Late Nights: New York Night Train’s Soul Clap & Dance Off featuring Dj Jonathan Toubin 11:30pm-till late

6 Japanese men in funky clothes jumping.
