JAZZ MADE IN AUSTRALIA

Monday 13 May 2019 @3pm or Online

JAZZ MADE IN AUSTRALIA features Lachy Hamilton’s debut CD Alchemy this week

Lachy Hamilton has been playing music since the age of four. First with piano, then moving on to clarinet, but soon after settling on Tenor Saxophone.

As a very young man he was off on his musical journey around the world performing with the likes of James Morrison, Jeff Clayton, Wycliffe Gordon, James Muller, Pattie Austin and many more including The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Lacht is settled in Sydney now where he leads his own trios and quartets playing his original compositions and jazz standards.

His debut release ALCHEMY was recorded in December 2018 and was inspired by Paulo Coelho’s ‘The Alchemist’. It features five original pieces based on this theme. I’ve chosen two to play for you, ‘The Alchemist’ which, he says, explores the many facets of the eponymous character, and a love song titled ‘Fatima – Woman Of The Desert’.
