Jonathan Zwartz – The Remembering And Forgetting Of The Air

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is The Remembering And Forgetting Of The Air by Jonathan Zwartz.

A Stalwart of the Australian Jazz Music scene, bassist Jonathan Zwartz has appeared on a multitude of jazz projects since his debut album The Sea was released five years ago.

The Remembering And Forgetting Of The Air marks his follow up and it is nothing short of exceptional.

Featuring an array of Australian talent, the album sways between classically inspired Jazz music to sounds more influenced by swing and groove.  Tracks like ‘Shimmer’ and ‘Luminous’ lull the listener to a blissfully serene aura, yet moods change throughout the LP, none more so than ‘Curtis’, a stonking 15 minute soulful jam.

Interplay and musicianship on the release is genuinely dazzling, worthy of any of the finest Jazz record labels. Superbly produced and wonderfully deep, the album is all the more impressive considering it is a totally independent release. Without doubt The Remembering And Forgetting Of The Air is a must have for lovers of the Sydney Jazz scene.
