Know your bike, love your bike

One of the great things about living in the Eastern Suburbs is all the bike love. Here at Eastside we try to be on two wheels whenever we can. Randwick and Waverley Councils want to help us all out with this by supporting City East Community College to provide regular bike maintenance workshops.

The workshop will help you become familiar with your bike and your tools. You’ll also learn some essential maintenance techniques and minor adjustments to keep your bike in good working order.

Sessions are ongoing, including one this coming Saturday at Randwick Community Centre.

Topics covered include:

• best way of keeping your bike clean
• lubricants
• checking for bike road worthiness
• how to put your chain back on
• correct fit and adjustments of the bike
• how to deal with a flat tyre
• introduction to cable adjustment
• adjusting breaks
• servicing such as cable maintenance and pad adjustments or replacements

Bring your bike, and bring your tools if you like, but some will be made available to use during the workshop.

The workshops are free, but you do need to enrol, and places are limited.
