KulchaFest highlights Paddington’s cultural and multicultural sides this August
Picture a jam-packed month of music, fashion, art and food extravaganzas in Paddington, and what you are imagining is KulchaFest. Starting in only two days and lasting until the end of August, the festival is aimed at bringing Paddington to life and attracting a whole bustle of energy.
Organised by the Paddington Uniting Church, the celebration of the arts will feature musical performances, fashion events, art exhibits, gardening and cooking presentations, history walks and various other showcases of talent.
“There is no reason that art, culture and community need to be marginalised or sacrificed because of our society’s preoccupation with business and profits,” said Tina Rendell-Thornton, general manager of Paddington Uniting Church, “We need to encourage creativity if we are going to prosper as a society and economy into the future”.
She also cited the benefits of encouraging interaction between people of different cultural and social backgrounds – that of building understanding, respect and a greater sense of community.
