Lanie Lane – To The Horses

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is To The Horses by Lanie Lane.

After a year of winning various awards, festival performances and European and American tours, the debut album from the 50’s styled singer songwriter from Sydney has been eagerly anticipated.

Lanie Lane has captured a retro 40’s and 50’s country swing sound with a soulful touch on To The Horses. Her straddling of so many genres and venturing into older sounds could have resulted in a disjointed and dated body of work, however Lanie has rather fused and used them to create a sound that not only is consistent but is also fresh, current and trendy.

However where the album truly excels is on it’s simpler side. Lanie’s vocals are not only strong and unique, but they also create a definitive presence and picture that is uncommon with most singers. Generic Lanie Lane certainly is not.

Having already drawn comparisons with various legends including Billie Holliday and with To The Horses having charted in the Aria Top 20, Lanie Lane certainly has an exciting career ahead of her.

To The Horses is a release by Ivy League Records. For more information go to www.ivyleague.com.au

Lanie also came in to Eastside a couple of weeks ago for a chat and to perform an acoustic version of “That’s What You Get” from To The Horses. You can listen to her interview and performance again here https://eastsidefm.org/2011/10/lanie-lane-interview-and-acoustic-performance/
