Last Arts Program for 2015!
On Arts Thursday 31st December it’s time to farewell the year and focus on two exhibitions that cross from 2015 into 2016 and take us on a journey from 1930s Sydney into the future of arts and design – the olfactory dimension.
Firstly in the program, join Curator Vanessa Kooyman who discusses the background to the exhibition Lloyd Rees: Painting with Pencil 1930–36 at the Museum of Sydney.
This exquisitely presented exhibition brings together finely drafted and composed pencil drawings of the artist’s beloved Sydney, including Balls Head, McMahon’s Point and other favourite locations; glorious harbourside fig trees and landscapes, as well as a few images of the structures that Rees believed should grace the shores around the harbour
In the second segment of the program, Lyn Balzer and Tony Perkins talk about their very contemporary approach to design and their exhibition Scented Intoxication at the Australian Design Centre incorporating scent in design, which permeats the materials used to make furniture, lighting, jewellery and other objects. It’s a directional exhibition, pointing to the future of design, encompassing a holistic exploration of the senses.
