Local Writers Word Festival
Are you in love with books? Maybe you dream one day of writing your own? Then don’t miss the Local Writers Word Festival next Saturday at Woollahara Council, featuring different events where you can unleash your imagination or be taken to another world hidden between the covers of a book.
Why not meet three electric, first-time writers at the Talks? Bruce Lyman (author of Flowers of Baghdad), Ashleigh Mounser (Sydney Morning Herald’s Young Writer of the Year) and Glenda Guest (Winner of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for her novel Siddon Rock) would love to share their experience and passion with you.
Is your life story worth telling? Then take part in the workshop Memoir Writing – How to Begin by author Patti Miller and finally get prepared with useful tips and tricks.
Hero or villain? Attend the Headline Talk with Robin de Crespigny about her national bestselling book The People Smuggler. If you become interested in the book after the discussion about one of the most complex and significant issues in Australia today, then get your copy as the book is on sale afterwards.
It will get especially exciting for all the shortlisted writers of the 2012 Local Writers’ Word Festival Writing Competition, as the winners will be announced on Saturday as well. You have the chance to listen to them being interviewed. So do not judge the book by its cover but wait for them to open up their minds and share their opinions with you.
Festival entry costs you $35 and if you are a Woollahra Library Friend it only costs you $25. Pre-Purchased tickets are essential and you have two different options to choose from:
First Choice
TALKS: Bruce Lyman, Ashleigh Mounser &
