Luke Howard Trio – A Dove, A Lion, A Coast, A Pirate
Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is A Dove, A Lion, A Coast, A Pirate by the Luke Howard Trio.
Featuring Luke Howard on piano, Jonathan Zion on bass and Dan Faruggia on drums, the trio from Melbourne have created a spine tingling minimal jazz album.
Recorded in Oslo with respected sound engineer Jan Erik Kongshaug, A Dove, A Lion, A Coast, A Pirate is an album that excels in its delicacy and intimacy. Gentle keys, intricate bass twangs and precise percussion all combine on a sparse and reflective release. Look out particularly for the startlingly emotive track ‘Cibi’ which has an element of a Sigur Ros feel to it. Beautiful.
A stunningly refined album that brims with warmth, A Dove, A Lion, A Coast, A Pirate will transport the most stressed out listener to a wonderful serene dreamscape.
