Originally born in New Zealand, Mike Nock has established himself as one of the most influential Jazz musicians in Australia with a career that has flourished for over 5 decades. Mike currently teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and his recently released work Hear And Know features seven new compositions from the pianist.

Hear and Know is played by his trio partners of several years James and Ben Waples on drums and double bass, and also features the highly promising talent of Karl Laskowski on tenor sax and Ken Allars on trumpet.

Smooth and melodious yet also with moments of surprise and excitement, Hear and Know shows that Mike Nock has lost none of his potency for innovative composition. The experience of Nock, whose vibrancy seems ceaseless, combined with the enthusiasm and energy of the younger players makes Hear And Know a celebration of the past, present and future of Australian Jazz music.
