Mississippi bluesman Paul Thorn at The Basement this Thursday night

PT

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Paul Thorn has brought his album ‘Pimps & Preachers’ Down Under. Last stop on his inaugural Australian tour is The Basement on Thursday June the 27th.

Described as ‘funny, funky, witty, a great songwriter and a wonderful live performer’ by legendary American blues singer-songwriter and slide guitar player Bonnie Raitt, Paul Thorn has created an innovative and impressive career, pleasing crowds with his muscular brand of roots music – bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern American, yet also speaking universal truths.

The Tupelo, Mississippi native worked in a furniture factory, jumped out of airplanes, and was a professional boxer (having fought in a bout against former world champion Robert Duran) before sharing his experiences with the world as a singer-songwriter.

Thorn reveals his fascinating personal history on the album ‘Pimps & Preachers’, which debuted at No. 83 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Paul Thorn has opened for artists ranging from Mark Knopfler to Sting, appeared on major US television shows Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and has received numerous US National Public Radio features.
