Money Killed Jonny

Ripping the black and white cool of the late 50’s and early 60’s Money Killed Jonny push the possibilities of Roots, Blues and Jazz with exploration of World beats, rhythms and melodic twists. An eclectic mix of witticisms, rants, and social, political and romantic observations, Money Killed Jonny is like a collection of free form jams that have been crafted into songs.

Eclectic lyrically and musically you’ll find influences as varied as Fats Waller, Louie Armstrong, Lou Reed, Tom Waits, the Cruel Sea, Nick Cave, Dave Brubeck Quartet, Vince Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Zap Mama, Juju Orchestra, Monsieur Camembert, Buena Vista Social Club, Bill Withers, Lonnie Johnson, Django Reinhardt, film noir, underground black and white, B grade movies.

The self titled debut album was released early in 2012 and aired on Eastside radio and FBi. “Cool Hand” the second CD was released in 2013. In addition to Steve, Ed and Noah, featuring are, Andrew Rankin from the Ray Beadle Band and Nick Rheinberger’s Acoustic Cabaret on double bass, Matt Bourne from Percussion Junction and Beatmeisters on percussion and Lenore Lovegrove form Tungari on vocals. “Cool Hand” is now into it’s second pressing after a successful launch at Venue 505 and air play on Eastside Radio, ABC FM, FBi and numerous provincial radio stations.
