motion – The Drowned World

Eastside Radio’s Album Of The Week is The Drowned World by motion.

motion are Andrew Brooks on saxophone, Berish Bilander on Rhodes, Brett Thompson on guitar, Sam Zerna on bass and Hugh Harvey on drums. Together the five piece band have created a stunning fusion jazz album that explores the more experimental side of the genre. Featuring ambient electronica, glitch and drum and bass, the drowned world swirls from moments of ethereal numbness to escapades of sheer delusion and cinematic crescendos. The album is a sublimely crafted diverse release, indeed a release of depth that is becoming commonly associated with the Listen/Hear Collective label.

motion are releasing the LP as a limited edition of 100 discs, with each copy featuring individual hand-made artwork by the Tasmanian based artist Claire Krouzecky, making The Drowned World not only aurally artistic but also visually too.

You can catch the quintet at their album launch at 505 in Surrey Hills on Wednesday June 13th. In the lead up to the launch motion are giving away a free download of the track “Liberty Stole My Shoes” from the album at https://listenhearcollective.bandcamp.com/album/liberty-stole-my-shoes-free-download
