NAIDOC Week 2013 is here!

NAIDOC Week is here! Each July, Australians unite and celebrate the culture, history and achievements that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have accomplished over the century.

The acronym NAIDOC stands for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. NAIDOC has achieved many positive outcomes over the century and has know become a prominent period within Australian culture that celebrates the achievements that have been created due to NAIDOC.

This year NAIDOC week is celebrated on the 7th -14th of July and its celebrations are held all over Australia. This year the focus for NAIDOC celebrations are held in Perth, Western Australia. There are numerous ways to show your support for NAIDOC week. You may choose to show your support by listening to some indigenous music, study aboriginal arts and crafts, or even read a dreamtime story. So come along and be apart of the Australian community and support NAIDOC week this July!
