Nigel Kennedy Plays Jimi Hendrix
After shredding the boe on his National Australian Tour Nigel Kennedy will perform two shows of his brilliant KENNEDY PLAYS HENDRIX in Sydney on Saturday 11 February 2017.
“Every bit the performer. Kennedy’s music is a blast whether he’s playing Vivaldi or Hendrix.” – Limelight Magazine 2017
“When I heard Jimi Hendrix, he made me want to play the violin like a guitar” – Nigel Kennedy
From early on his career there has been one composer to whom Kennedy keeps returning, namely Jimi Hendrix. “What attracts me to Jim Hendrix’s music is the amazingly open mind that Jimi had. This was reflected in many ways: he was always gracious and never insulting to anybody and this showed in his music. There were any number of influences that one could hear in his compositions; these range from rock, blues and Celtic through to trance and experimental styles. Maybe that is why I find it so natural exploring Jimi Hendrix music, having been involved in so many similar styles myself. I particularly get off on the transcendental, psychedelic side of Jimi’s music, which really hits home hard.” Kennedy will choose from the following numbers at THE BASEMENT on Sat 11 February
Purple Haze, Hey Joe, The Wind Cries Mary, Crosstown Traffic, Fire Drifting, Little Wing, In 1983 A Merman I Should Be, Third Stone from the Sun Foxy Lady and others …….
Maestro Kennedy is excited to be working with a brand new international line up of musicians who have been performing with him on his national Australian tour – they are:
The brilliant young 23-year-old guitar prodigy Julian Buschberger, Tomas Kupiec on bass and Adam Czerwinski drums (one of the leading European rhythms sections who emanate from the Jarek Sietana band) and the brilliant pianist Pawel Tomaszewski.
