One Billion Dancing is a Revolution
One in three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. This means at any given moment somewhere in the world someone is dealing with the harmful effects of violence and abuse.
Imagine living in a world free of violence… If you could help to stop violence against women would you?
Sydney is about to take part in the One Billion Rising global initiative V-Day; a worldwide event developed to stop violence against women taking place on February 14, 2013.
One Billion Rising says “No” to violence against women; it refuses to tolerate rape, circumcision and domestic violence; hurting individuals and damaging future generations of people and wants to start a global revolution.
Known for their empowering efforts for women in business, Girlpower Goddness is collaborating with White Ribbon – Australia’s only male-led anti-violence against women campaign to host a flash mob outside St Mary’s Cathedral on College Street, Sydney as part of the worldwide dance party.
Founded by Vagina Monologues author, Eve Ensler and with support of international movie stars like Anne Hathaway and Jane Fonda this event will be Sydney’s contribution; along with 190 countries from all over the world to the global revolution against rape and violence against women.
Girlpower Founder, Natascha Moy says: “a woman’s joy is to give life and love and to empower and teach so she is a precious and remarkable life source for our world.”
Jane Fonda says: “If we were to end violence and women were free to thrive rather than survive it will change, everything.”
