Offering an alternative style of nightclub and drug free environment, Stephanie Cranford of OneSpace is relying on the good vibes of live music and healthy food to get across a message of safe and responsible entertainment.

“Too often we rely on the buzz of drugs or alcohol to have a good time that is not necessary. However, you can not overdose on music” (Cranford)

Establishing OneSpace events, predominantly within the Paddington Chapel, that has previously hosted some of Australia’s diverse range of artists such as Jet and Jessica Mouboy as well as being the setting of the 1989 Peter Blakely song “Crying in the Chapel”, Mrs Cranford has commenced a series of shows that allow the concert goer the experience of getting up close and personal with artists.

“We have created an environment that allows artists and fans to interact without the threat of the imbalance that can be associated with drug abuse or the noise soaked environment of a club.”

The first event to use the new OneSpace concert formula is to be held on August 1st. Called “One Vibrations” the event is featuring the boys from Xavier Rudd United Nations – Peter Hunt’s (Trumpet) band Kooii Music and Bobby Alu (drummer). Live at Paddington Chapel, performing what promises to be an evening good food, high energy dance and live music with DJ Marc Kundalini, special guest Soul Drummer and a debut by Dwayne Martens (founder of Amazonia).

More information about the band

Kooii have the reputation of being one of the most liberating bands to dance with in the country. They have a wealth of feeling that they share, honouring the unifying and transformative power of music, exploring the driving rhythms of afrobeat as well as being able to step back into the deeply binding groove of reggae. Kooii don’t restrict themselves to a particular style, with reflections of RnB, neosoul and folk music. Their intention is not to create a particular style of music, rather create a sound and rhythm that they are called to, one that carries the message and story of the lyrics, and, most importantly, that they feel people will be compelled to dance to.

Bobby Alu is a songwriter & effortless baritone and ukulele strummer with a smooth silky voice that slides past a warm smile. He plays drums like an animal & lives a life of sharing his passion & talent around the world. Whether performing solo or backed by his slick charismatic band, Bobby is known for his signature hammock music & high vibes. The music, themed by Polynesia, born on the East Coast of Australia, with hints of soul, reggae, & infectious rhythm is familiar yet uniquely Bobby Alu.

The evening will be a feast for the senses complete with DJ Marc Kundalini sharing some dub reggae beats and Pop up cafe by Egg of the Universe Organic Wine & Kombucha Elixir Bar and whole foods that will surely delight and keep you going. The concept of OneSpace events is not just a party, but a gathering of like minded Sydney folk through whole foods, live music and dance. The focus is on creating a meaningful space and providing a positive, drug free conscious transformative music experiences in the beautiful space that is Paddington Chapel.
