Omega Ensemble:James Crabb My next guest: David Rowden, Artistic Director, Omega Ensemble, chats about “A Night of Tango” – an evening of chamber music with a tango theme.

In their first performance as Ensemble in Residence at City Recital Hall, Omega Ensemble is teaming up with classical accordion virtuoso, James Crabb.

James Crabb is recognised internationally as a passionate and acclaimed authority on the music of Astor Piazzolla, and has numerous collaborations and recordings to his name, including collaborations with the BBC Symphony, London Philharmonic, London Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic.

The program includes works by Britten, Argi/Carli, Rubstov, Tiensuu, Franck and Stravinsky and Piazzolla arrangements from James Crabb. The Piazzola pieces include Romance del Diablo, La muerte del Angel, and the Suite Punta del Este, a tango neuvo work for strings and accordion.

Omega Ensemble is regarded as a major force in Sydney chamber music with its widely vast chamber repertoire. Their performances have been highly acclaimed by both audiences and reviewers, and are broadcast across Australia. Omega performs chamber music in programs of classical and contemporary classical music.

A Night Of Tango is also the first concert in Omega’s Virtuoso Series at City Recital Hall.
