Peter Knight – Fish Boast Of Fishing

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Fish Boast Of Fishing by Peter Knight.

Featuring Peter Knight, Adam Simmons, Erik Griswold, Vanessa Tomlinson, Frank Di Sario and Joe Talia, Fish Boast Of Fishing is inspired by the poetry of E. E Cummings.

Post modernist poet Cummings was renowned for his avant garde style in a traditional format. Peter Knight has transposed this idea into a jazz album, exploring improvisation, composition and electronics to create a unique sound.

Using experimental techniques including laptops and prepared pianos, Fish Boast Of Fishing delves into unchartered jazz territory. Knight takes you on a deep journey as sounds collide and crash then shift to smoother soundscapes.

Much of the album has a stream of consciousness feel to it. Part of the motivation behind the project was to integrate each of the players improvisatory language on a body of work. This explains the shift in mood swings on Fish Boast Of Fishing, and the unpredictability of the entire album. However it is this uncertainty and eclecticism that makes the LP so fascinating. The album is certainly not for those of the faint of heart, and truly demands to be meditated over intensely.

Fish Boast Of Fishing is a release by Peter Knight and the Listen/Hear Collective. For more information go to www.peterknightmusic.com
