Podcast: Art Parties

Art Party is a homegrown, grassroots initiative started up by artists, for artists and asks only that you enter with an open mind and a bearhug. The power of performance, art and community is truly felt in this meeting point between the arts.

With arts cuts imminent, live music venues shutting down left right and centre, and real changes to the consumption of art and music by the public, it is more important than ever to focus on local talent, connecting creative communities and celebrating in the fantastic spaces available to us in this great city.

Thusly, a motley crew of artists brings to you Art Party’s 3 Year Anniversary at the Oxford Art Factory, September 25 featuring Wild Marmalade, Kallidad, Betty Grumble, Mulga The Artist, Flamewater Circus among others.

Combining circus, folk, doof, and a variety of other underground communities, this party is a recognition of the weirdest, most unbelievable, astounding feats of art and magic, music and rhythm, openness and creativity.

Art Party’s the best’ – Si Mullumby (Wild Marmalade)

Art Party gives a voice and a welcoming audience to emerging artists, as well as inspiration and a chance at collaboration’ – Bron Watkins, (Golden Orb)

You never know what you’ll see at an Art Party, or who you’ll meet, could be a shibari rope bondage performer, a junk percussionist, a hypnotic magician, a folk-singing beatboxer, a feminist spectacle, Mexican heavy metal, a palliative care artist, fire manipulators, projectionists, painters, dancers, poets, freaks, geeks or all those lovely weirdos.
