Richard Johnson AO, OBE, and a Gold Medallist of the Institute of Architects, is a renowned architect and the designer of a number of cultural buildings, including the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, the Asian wing at the Art Gallery of NSW and the recent extension of the Anzac War Memorial in Sydney.
He has a lesser-known role as an exhibition designer.
Here he speaks to Maisy Stapleton from Radio Eastside’s Arts Thursday about designing for art exhibitions and in particular, his recent work on the design of the Art Gallery of NSW exhibition Matisse: Life & Spirit, Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou Paris.
